Birthday present for Marie this year was taking her to a surprise destination for a weekend. I chose Vienna since none of us had been there before. I was hoping to go see an opera at the famous Opera House, but unfortunately “Carmen” was completely sold out when I checked and the only alternative was something I’d never heard of that was about 5 hours long… I decided against that and instead booked tickets for the “Light of Creation” light show in the Votiv Church, opting for a nice hotel within walking distance.

I like to commemorate my travel anniversary: February 26th.

First year I did a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam, a bucket list item. My second year I was working in China so I didn’t get much choice (we had a night out with the gang). This time it was my 3 year anniversary travelling. On this day I had officially been travelling for 36 months. So I decided to schedule my Guatapé tour for this day. Fair warning: This is going to be the messiest blog post I’ve ever posted.

Macau :: One day is enough

I went to Macau just to cross it off my list, really. It’s an easy ferry ride from Hong Kong and you REALLY don’t need more than a few hours to get a feel for the place. A bonus is that the casinos/hotels have free shuttles that take you everywhere so you don’t pay for transport. I thought this was only to the major casinos so I was pleasantly surprised.
