The #1 thing to do in Egypt – Go on a #PTMEgypt tour

“If you think I’m not bringing this carpet in the hot air balloon…”
– Jason

I have followed Ryan (Pause The Moment) online for a couple of years now, he’s been travelling for around seven years and has been quite an inspiration for me. So when he announced that he was organizing two tours of Egypt I really wanted to join. In true Annie-style I waited too long so the first one filled up, I panicked and jumped on the second one immediately (sound familiar?)…

Ryan’s tour had a great itinerary that checked off almost all the things I’ve wanted to see in Egypt. Originally it looked like this:
Day 1 – CAIRO: Pyramids of Giza, camel ride and the Sphinx
Day 2 – LUXOR: Temple of Karnak, temple of Luxor
Day 3 – LUXOR: Hot air ballon ride, Valley of the Kings, West bank, Hatshepsut’s temple, Felucca ride on the Nile
Day 4 – Drive to Hurghada
Day 5 – Snorkelling tour to Giftun Islands
Day 6 – CAIRO: Khan el Khalili Bazaar
Day 7 – Depart to Fayoum (National park for overnight camping trip in the desert), hot spring, desert activities, sunset BBQ
Day 8 – CAIRO: Egyptian Museum, dinner, goodbyes

After the militants attacked Egyptian police around the time we were there the government shut down any and all travel in the desert, so Ryan and Gabry worked fast and decided to take us to Alexandria instead. I was actually even happier with this than the original plan because we got to visit the Library of Alexandria. The whole day was awesome with seeing the catacombs, the Serapeum and Pompey’s Pillar, but the library… I was almost giddy 😀 It turned out to be such a great day and I hope I conveyed that to Ryan and Gabry.

In the end, this tour turned out to be a definite highlight of my trip so far. We had a great group that really got along well together, accumulated about 20 new hashtags, one new group member in Jason’s Egyptian rug (“Carpanda”) and have so many injokes I’m glad I wrote many of them down because I wouldn’t want to forget them for anything. #Stella? #SpecialMeatBeef #ColorfulTombStuff #BroPolyAmero #WaitingForThePidgeonToKickIn #AmazingGroup #SixThirty #MySisterIsABellyDancer #Carpanda #ULikeObelisk? #MegasBasilos #JasonPhotobomb #PurtyGrand #MahmoudPrime

I love you guys ❤
