Birthday present for Marie this year was taking her to a surprise destination for a weekend. I chose Vienna since none of us had been there before. I was hoping to go see an opera at the famous Opera House, but unfortunately “Carmen” was completely sold out when I checked and the only alternative was something I’d never heard of that was about 5 hours long… I decided against that and instead booked tickets for the “Light of Creation” light show in the Votiv Church, opting for a nice hotel within walking distance.

USA :: Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Aaah, New Orleans… The only place on my three years and two weeks of travelling that I got assaulted… I mention this to most people not to trash on the US, but to open peoples’ eyes a bit as most people I talk to seem to think it completely obvious that the most dangerous places I’ve travelled are all in Africa, with the possible exception of one or two places in Asia.

China :: Teach and Travel China (TTC)

How do I sum up five months living and working in China? I don’t even know where to start…
I can sum up one night of work Rachel and I had to do, where the Chinese aid told us:
“You have to go on stage and maybe teach, maybe singa song, maybe teach animals. We have cards with colours, maybe sing a song, maybe Baby Shark, maybe? All foreign teachers sing Baby Shark, maybe we have cards for colours and cards for animals and maybe ten minutes before the play you sing a song…”
